Software engineer
The Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale the core systems behind Ylookup’s Excel-native AI workflows.
This role sits at the heart of the product. You will design and implement backend systems, integrations, and infrastructure that power automation inside Excel for enterprise customers. Reliability, correctness, and scalability matter more than novelty.
You will work closely with AI engineers and product managers to take complex workflows from concept to production, ensuring the system behaves predictably in real-world, high-stakes environments.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain core backend services and APIs
Develop integrations that connect Excel with AI systems and data sources
Work closely with AI engineers to support LLM-driven workflows in production
Build systems that prioritise reliability, security, and auditability
Design for enterprise scale, including performance, observability, and failure modes
Own features end-to-end, from initial design through deployment and iteration
Improve internal tooling and infrastructure to support rapid but safe development
Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform evolves
Who You Are
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Experience building and maintaining production systems
Comfortable working across the stack where needed
Pragmatic problem solver who values clarity over over-engineering
Ownership mindset in fast-moving environments
Experience with workflow or data pipeline systems
Startup or scale-up experience
